i’m asking my hands to turn
into midnight, into timber,
carefully carved out cliffside,
i don’t wanna hurt anyone, i don’t
wanna run.
at sunset i get graceless,
my body hurting like a snow
fall & making ugly shapes.
nothing gets remembered, i paw
at the dirt & hear myself howling,
the neighbours tremble kindly
at my fear.
early morning touches my face
like a burn, i apologize profusely.
every shard of sun revelatory; it says
forgiveness is arbitrary,
what we do to ourselves doesn’t
matter.
